Minister of Interior Receives UN High Commissioner for Refugees
Minister of Interior, Mazen Al-Faraya, received the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Barham Salih, at his office today.

Al-Faraya and Salih discussed ways to enhance the voluntary return of Syrian refugees and the appropriate measures to facilitate their return to their country.

They also discussed the importance of providing the necessary support to refugees to ensure their dignified living conditions, in addition to the need to support host communities that share the burden with the refugees.

Both sides commended the level of bilateral relations between the Kingdom and the UNHCR and expressed their future aspiration to strengthen cooperation between them.

In this context, Al-Faraya emphasized to the UN guest the significant humanitarian role that Jordan plays in hosting refugees and its keenness to provide them with all essential services.

Al-Faraya pointed to the impact of hosting refugees on various sectors, such as health, education, water, and transportation, and the resulting strain on infrastructure.

For his part, Saleh expressed his deep appreciation for the active role played by the Kingdom in hosting refugees and bearing significant burdens as a result.
