Al-Faraya chairs a meeting to follow up on efforts to eliminate attacks on water sources

Amman, April 28

In continuation of the previous meetings held regarding the issue of eliminating attacks on water sources in all regions of the Kingdom, the Minister of Interior, Mazen Al-Faraya, chaired this morning, Sunday, 4/28/2024 AD, in the building of the Ministry of Interior, in the presence of His Excellency Eng. Raed Abu Al-Saud / Minister of Water and Irrigation, and all concerned parties, in order to learn about the efforts made by the security services in cooperation with the administrative governors, cadres of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the Water Authority, the Jordan Valley Authority, and the water companies in removing attacks on groundwater, water sources and lines. And backfilling the violating wells.

 

During the meeting, Al-Faraya stressed that efforts in this field are continuing according to an executive plan through which attacks and violations are monitored in various regions of the Kingdom and campaigns are implemented to eliminate them in cooperation with all concerned agencies, and the perpetrators are referred to judicial authorities, pointing to the impact of these attacks on increasing the depletion of water sources, in particular Groundwater is increasingly being extracted from wells, and this constitutes a major obstacle to providing citizens with their needs, noting that this irresponsible practice is considered a threat to Jordanian national security and its perpetrators will be dealt with on this basis.

 

At the end of the meeting, Al-Faraiah thanked all the agencies working in following up on the issue of eliminating attacks, appreciating the exceptional efforts made by all concerned to implement the rule of law and the success of these campaigns, and stressing the need to continue such campaigns in all regions on the one hand and on the other hand to preserve what has been accomplished. He also pointed out the need to combine all efforts and enhance the spirit of responsibility among citizens in reporting any negative practices and violations if they occur, in order to reach the stage of water stability and justice in distribution without discrimination.
