The Ministers of Interior and Tourism, and the Director General of Customs Visit the Al-Omari Border Crossing

The Minister of Interior, Mazen Al-Faraya, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Imad Hijazin, and the Director General of the Jordan Customs Department, Major General Ahmed Al-Akalik, conducted an inspection visit to the Al-Omari Border Crossing today, Thursday. They met with officials and were briefed on the center's operations, the nature of the services provided, and the readiness of its infrastructure.

During a field tour of the center's facilities, Al-Faraya and Hijazin were briefed on the progress of work and the projects currently being implemented, with the aim of improving the level of services provided and the general environment at the border crossing. They also monitored the progress of the joint management operations room, which contributes to the unification and integration of procedures between the various agencies operating at the crossing.

The two ministers also stressed the importance of future planning to continue improving logistical services, rehabilitating the work environment, and securing basic needs, thus enhancing the center's readiness and capacity to receive the increasing number of visitors and tourists.

In this context, the Minister of Interior emphasized the need for coordination and cooperation among all stakeholders at the center to ensure the smooth running and management of all operations, in a manner that serves the national interest.

Faraya directed the formation of a specialized team to prepare a detailed study on the Drive-Thru service project, its feasibility, and its requirements to improve the level of services at the center.

In this regard, Minister Faraya instructed the preparation of a comprehensive master plan, according to the highest standards, to develop the site. This plan will ensure continued improvement of procedures and the rehabilitation of the center's infrastructure, with the aim of reducing travelers' stays at the center and providing them with the best possible services.

For his part, Dr. Hijazin explained that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will work to provide the necessary requirements to better present Jordanian tourism products and facilitate visitor access to them, enhancing the tourist experience from the moment they enter Jordan and travel to various tourist destinations across the Kingdom.

Minister Hijazin also emphasized that developing the center is a vital part of national efforts to support the tourism sector and enhance Jordan's position on the map of global and regional tourist destinations.

In the same context, the Ministers of Interior and Tourism, as well as the Director General of Customs, emphasized the need to undertake urgent maintenance measures and provide the necessary requirements to improve traffic flow at the center and raise its level of service, which will have a direct impact on travelers.
