Minister of Interior Meets with Jordan Journalists Syndicate Council
Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya met in his office on Wednesday with the President of the Jordan Journalists Syndicate, Tariq Al-Momani, in the presence of several members of the Syndicate Council.
During the meeting, the issue of impersonators of journalists and media professionals was discussed, and the threat this phenomenon poses to the profession and society, given the lack of regulation that has plagued the media sector in recent years.
The Minister of Interior emphasized the importance of regulating the media profession, praising its vital role in serving the Jordanian state and considering its preservation a national responsibility, given its stature and dignity.
During the meeting, Faraya indicated that coordination will be made with administrative governors to ensure that members of the Journalists Syndicate and employees of licensed press and media institutions are treated in accordance with the provisions of the law, ensuring respect for their professional practice and facilitating their tasks within legal frameworks.
Faraya also explained that regulating media work requires the cooperation of all state institutions and constant coordination between relevant parties, as it serves the nation and the public interest. For his part, the President of the Journalists Syndicate reviewed a portion of the Syndicate's strategic plan for the years 2025-2028, which includes a key focus on regulating the profession. He emphasized that this effort requires sustained institutional support from the state and its various arms.
Al-Momani added, "The path toward regulation may be long and require time and effort, but its results will ultimately benefit the profession, society, and the state, serving the public interest."
In this context, the continued cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the Journalists Syndicate was emphasized, enhancing the role of professional and responsible media in supporting national stability and consolidating the rule of law.
