Joint Field Visit to King Hussein Bridge
Interior Minister Mazen Faraya met today at the King Hussein Bridge with his Palestinian counterpart, Ziad Hab Al-Rih. The two ministers, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides, discussed a number of issues related to cooperation and coordination between the two ministries and ways to develop them.
The two sides also discussed the work mechanisms at the King Hussein Bridge, the procedures followed for arriving and departing travelers, and the working conditions and challenges associated with them.
Jordanian Interior Minister Mazen Faraya explained how the bridge used to operate, including determining the number of travelers and limiting working hours due to the arrangements followed by the other side. He also explained other issues, such as the occasional suspension of travelers from the other side, which impacts the flow of work and makes the bridge different from other border crossings. This requires taking this specificity into account when evaluating the work at the bridge.
Faraya emphasized that to address the challenges facing travelers, an electronic ticket sales platform has been developed to facilitate ticket purchases and travel procedures. Al-Faraya continued, explaining that after the platform was activated, some problems arose, requiring intervention through a series of decisions and procedures to address them. These included linking VIP business services to the electronic platform and restricting electronic tickets to the traveler's name and passport number, preventing the sale and purchase of these tickets. This ensures that ticket reservations and the movement of departures and arrivals at the bridge operate according to a modern and disciplined mechanism, resulting in a noticeable improvement and a fundamental difference in the level of services provided at the bridge.
In this context, Al-Faraya presented the main points of the integrated project to rehabilitate the King Hussein Bridge, which the Ministry of Interior is currently implementing. This project includes rehabilitating all bridge facilities, establishing a public transportation complex, expanding the road serving the bridge in both the Jordanian and Palestinian directions, and expanding the cargo yards.
For his part, Palestinian Interior Minister Ziad Hab Al-Rih emphasized the strong relations between Jordan and Palestine and praised Jordan's significant efforts in rehabilitating the King Hussein Bridge and improving the level of services provided there, which will positively impact travelers. He also pointed out the importance of addressing passenger feedback related to expediting procedures, improving waiting halls, and assessing their effectiveness, with the aim of providing optimal service to travelers.

The two ministers then conducted a comprehensive tour of all bridge facilities, including the arrival and departure halls. They reviewed the procedures in place and the readiness and suitability of the bridge facilities for receiving and accommodating travelers until departure. They also heard from bridge officials about the nature of the work and services provided.

Meanwhile, the two ministers met with a number of travelers and heard their opinions on the electronic platform, its advantages, the ease of booking procedures, and the nature of the services provided at the bridge. Following this, it was agreed to build canopies between the bridge entrance and the departure hall to protect travelers from various weather conditions.
